About Elods - North London's Premier Musical Theatre Society

All About ELODS ... Who we are and what we do!!

Elods is an amateur theatre company, based in Winchmore Hill, that produce both classic and new musicals at Wyllyotts Theatre, Potters Bar. We are a fully inclusive society welcoming adults of all ages (and children when a show requires under 18's.)
With a dedicated group of performers and volunteers, we dedicate ourselves to producing high quality productions to as near professional standard as we can. We are lucky to be able to work with a variety of talented local directors and choreographers who bring fresh ideas to each show together with our excellent resident Musical Director, Mark Newport.

On Stage

Whether your ambitions are to play leading parts or sing with others in the ensemble, - we always need new faces.

Backstage & Production

We also really need people to help behind the scenes with costumes, props, set building and backstage for each show - these roles are equally as important as performing. It is great fun and you will be helping to ensure that our shows run seamlessly and professionally - no experience necessary, just reliability & enthusiasm!

Front of House

We also need people Front of House to welcome the audience and sell programmes etc. If you are interested in helping for our next show please contact us

Joining details / Audition

In order to join the company and take part in musicals, you will need to do a small audition in front of the committee.
This is a simple check on basic singing, acting and movement ability.

The following subscriptions are required to join the society.

Annual membership - £15

Show fee (per show) - £100 (£85 concessions)

Rehearsals

We rehearse twice a week from 8pm to 10pm in two different venues, both based in Winchmore Hill.
We also rehearse on a few Sunday afternoons just prior to performance week

Elods - a Brief History

Founded in 1953 as The Wheatsheaf Players, we are a non-profit making musical theatre society based in Winchmore Hill N21 in the London Borough of Enfield. The name was soon changed to Enfield Light Operatic and Dramatic Society and from performing mostly Gilbert and Sullivan in the 50's and 60's, the society soon took on the challenge of producing more modern musicals and this has continued to the present day - so these days we tend to just call ourselves elods as we don't currently put on plays or operas!
